A lot of my clients, and even friends and family, often ask me about different protein shakes or bars they should eat to help with their fitness goals.
My response is always same. "What's your nutrition like?"
That question is usually followed by silence as that person contemplates how to answer that. Then they usually say it's pretty good.
I usually follow up with another question. "What does pretty good look like?"
After a quick analysis of what they typically eat, I then provide clarity on several things they can do better with their meals.
Common denominators that I've found are:
- Not eating enough fruit and veggies
- Not enough protein at every meal
- Not drinking enough water
- Eating too much sugar
- Drinking too many calories (sodas, iced teas, energy drinks, Starbucks, multiple cups of coffee)
Before you go and buy $50 worth of protein powder at your local vitamin shop, look at your nutrition and see where you can make improvements.
Most of the time making a few adjustments to your diet is all you need to start making progress on your fitness goals.
Where can you make adjustments to your nutrition? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
